June 26, 2023 - Andermatt - Oberalp Pass, Disentis Cable Car

We headed out on the GS today to the town of Disentis - no, it is not named after Florida's Governor.  It's a nice little town about 20 miles northeast of Andermatt and has one of the few cable cars going up a mountain that is running in June.  Most of the other ones start running in July.  Sooz took some video from the back of the GS you can see below.  We passed over the Oberalp Pass on our way to Disentis.

After the cable car ride we headed through Disentis picking up the road towards Mecel heading south.  The road was more narrow than road 19 coming out of Andermatt. The road has several names and it was a gorgeous ride.  We stopped at the Campra Alpine Lodge & Spa for a quick and underwhelming sandwich and then headed back to Andermatt the same way we came.  Going the opposite direction gives an entirely different perspective and it did not disappoint.

It was a beautiful day, both of us were laughing and shaking our heads hardly believing where we were and what we were doing.  Just another day exploring the Swiss Alps.  Hard to believe.

A selection of pictures below from the cable car in Disentis and the ride towards lunch at Campra.

Sooz was testing out a selfi-stick taking these 2 videos from the back seat of the GS.
