Fes, Morocco - November 10-11, 2025

On Monday the 10th we rode from Lac Aquelmane to Fes.  It was only about 85 miles and it took about 3 hours.  One of the highlights of the route was stopping in the town of Ifrane.  It could have been in Austria or Colorado.  It had the feel of an alpine area with ski areas all around.

Just to clarify, the town is spelled Fes, and the hat is spelled Fez.  In Fes we stayed at the Fes Heritage Boutique Luxury Hotel. It was a real adventure getting there during rush hour. We may also have gone the wrong way down a one way street, but there is no confirmation of that - HERE.

Our guide Reda arranged for Abdul to guide us through the medina in Fes.  They have been friends for 20 years and Abdul seemed to know everyone in the medina.  It turns out his is on the City council and is running again for a seat.  His father was a guide, he is a guide and his son is a guide.  HERE is a short video of Abdul to give you a feel of this style.

We stopped at the Chouara Tannery, the largest and one of the oldest tannery in Fes.  It has a strong odor so they hand out sprigs of fresh mint to put in your nose during the tour. Part of the tour included their sales areas which is massive.  Hundreds and hundreds of jackets, hats, cushions, shoes, handbags and cases.

We also stopped at a shop that specializes in natural medicines.  We had a whole demonstration of their products and bought a few.  This is a short video of Sooz sampling a powder to clean out your sinuses.  HERE
