Balkans September 3, 2018 Postojna, Slovenia

9:00 pm.  Rode from Zagreb, crossed into Slovenia and stopped here in Postojna.  We visit the Predjama Castle tomorrow and then head up to Ljubljana where we will stay 3 nights.
It was a little hard to leave Zagreb, we both really enjoyed it there.  It had a nice scale, easy to walk and we were staying in a central location.  Lots to see and do and a wide variety of places to eat.
Populations:
Bucharest - 1.8 million city, 2.4 million metro
Belgrade - 1.3 million city, 1.7 million metro
Zagreb - 790,000 city, 1.1 million metro
Sarajevo - 275,000 city, 500,000 metro
Ljubljana - 272,000 city, 537,000 metro
After Ljubljana we will be in small towns until we get back to Bucharest in 3 weeks.
Today was wet and rainy for most of the ride of 5 hours.  We had about an hour wait in traffic at the Slovenia border crossing.  It was a piece of cake once we got to the checkpoint, but getting there took awhile.
We have rain gear and our bags are dry bags so we did pretty well. But water always finds the weakest points when riding a motorcycle so some things get wet. Plus the temperature got down to 59 F so it was nice to have the raingear to keep us warm.
We had our best meal yet at a little local restaurant within walking distance of our hotel.  I had a local meal of ground meat wrapped around cheese and spices and Sooz had the best short ribs ever.  A pleasant surprise.
Only a couple of pictures today.  The picture of the car is for my brother Ted because I have never seen this BMW model before and I wonder if he has.
I included a picture of a receipt from Zagreb showing 27% taxes on restaurants and other retail.
