April 21, 2024 - Nanaimo, Vancouver Island, British Columbia

The weather today was again all over the map.  We started in the 30s, became warmer and sunny, and then became cold again and even rained.  We rode from Chehalis, WA to Port Angeles, WA to pick up the ferry to Victoria, Vancouver Island.  The ride to Nanaimo took about 1.5 hours and had a lot of traffic.  We were not expecting to see that much traffic on the island, we thought the whole island was pretty remote and with few people, but that is not the case around Victoria.

While waiting in line to board the ferry, we met a couple of guys on BMW motorcycles that live in Victoria, Vancouver Island.  They highly recommended riding across the island to Tofino which we plan on doing tomorrow.  We'll stay somewhere there tomorrow night and take the ferry back to Port Angeles and begin riding to Florida.

This is the Nanaimo Bar, named after the town we are staying in.  It has chocolate on top, a coconut middle and a graham crust. Very tasty.
