June 5, 2026 - Golden, British Columbia

Last night we stayed in Waterton, Alberta just across the border in Canada.  The ride was beautiful.  Lots of sun, no rain and the scenery was better than we found in Glacier.  The problem with Glacier was that the Road to the Sun was not open, so I think we missed a lot.  However, the ride to Waterton was worth the ride.

Today we had a long ride of over 300 miles from Waterton to Golden, BC.  Most of the weather was decent, but we did have some wind and rain.  All of the riding was on 2-lane roads which provided nice scenery and is slower.  By the time we landed here in Golden the four of us were beat, we grabbed a small bite and went to our rooms.

Our first impressions of Golden have not been great.  I thought our rooms were going to be in a quiet part of town, instead are located next to a larger bridge replacement construction site.  We're going to get some rest and see what our options are tomorrow.  It looks like we will be relocating tomorrow.  Ted and Sheila are looking for a place to stay.

Much of our ride today ran along the Columbia River valley on Highway 93 north.  The valley was lined by the Rocky Mountains.

We never found out the name of this peak, but it was impressive on our way to Waterton yesterday.
