June 13, 2022 - Seward, AK

Today we stayed in Seward, hiked to view the Exit Glacier, had lunch in downtown and rode around the town.

Before we went hiking we were interviewed on Zoom by Rae Chan a journalism and communications student at UF. He is interested in GNV4ALL and found out about our trip. He is writing a paper about GNV4ALL and our trip for a class paper. We enjoyed meeting Rae and look forward to reading his paper.

The park ranger said the hike to see Exit Glacier was about one mile long going  in and one mile coming back and very flat. He was mistaken. We are not big hikers but we think it was at least 25 miles in and 50 miles back and all uphill both ways. I may be exaggerating but that's what it felt like. It was nice but in the end we did not get very close to the glacier. During the hike I think we were passed by everyone but a newlywed couple who were not really focused on the hike.

We checked out several stores in the downtown area but most were very touristy so we didn't stay long.

Tomorrow we head north to Hatcher Pass and may visit a musk ox farm on the way there.

That's the closest we could get to Exit Glacier

The infamous and somewhat disappointing Exit Glacier

Susie wondering how the trail could be uphill in both directions. At least the park  ranger let her borrow 2 hiking sticks
